cs-img-logo-recurrentBite conceived a campaign to generate grass-roots support from the media and local coalition members to influence the Board of Supervisors to vote for the largest municipal solar project on record.

Using a strong local media push, the Bite team aimed to shift the perception  of a 5 megawatt (MW) solar project at the Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco by working with highly credible third party, VoteSolar, by placing an opinion-editorial in the San Francisco Chronicle discussing the benefits of this specific solar project to the community.

Following the Chronicle story , Bite coordinated efforts with Recurrent Energy partners – San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), VoteSolar, and San Francisco Mayor’s Office. The Bite team stayed in constant contact with key print, online and broadcast media, keeping them apprised of the developments within the Board of Supervisors, including radio and television segments to ensure both sides of the story were told.

In total, over 350 stories appeared, including television, radio and all major local newspapers outlets. The project was approved.  San Francisco will be home to the largest municipal solar project in the nation upon completion in 2010, and will more than triple the amount of solar energy powering the city.

August 21, 2009

As a girl, growing up in North London, UK, in the Seventies, my impressions of Texas were informed by some pretty limited sources.  I was an avid watcher of Dallas and I had seen the film Giant (only because I had a crush on James Dean, which seems a universal affliction for girls of a [...]

Time for PlayBite

August 19, 2009

The Beatles weren’t wrong when they sang about eight days a week.  I’m sure most people in whatever walk of life would love to have more time on their hands.   In our fast-paced, do-it-right-now-or-miss-out lifestyle sometimes it’s hard to get everything you want to done.
That is why for lots of companies in the tech [...]

Semantics Rock

August 19, 2009

I was at a gig last night in London seeing one of the Seattle music scene’s finest hours when I was reminded of one of the flaws of the web. I’m not sure if you have ever put “Nickelback Rocks” into a popular search engine? (Please don’t cast aspersions on me at this point I’m [...]

Egg on My Face?

August 18, 2009

I’ve grown increasingly irritated by some blog posts of late but until reading a recent, but somewhat unrelated, piece by Paul Carr, I have held my tongue. However the manner in which Paul’s strong opinions on topics fire up his readers, I feel compelled to put pen to paper and hopefully even spur a debate.
As [...]

The Data Imperative: Will PR Win or Lose the Battle for Data?

August 13, 2009

It was interesting to see some of the latest findings in a study entitled 2009 Digital Readiness Report, released by iPressroom. It highlights the fact that PR is ‘leading the social media revolution inside an organization,’ which is great to hear. It was also interesting to note that PR lags marketing in just two disciplines: [...]
