Well, it’s day three in my role a honorary journalist and the shoes are becoming slightly more comfortable.    Today has been very productive; not only did I manage to get all my third-party comment and photos sorted before my noon deadline, I also received a hot-off-the-press preview copy of this week’s PR Week, which the team had been putting to bed as I left the office last night.

It is a satisfying feeling being able to see the end product in the flesh and gave me a sense of achievement, even though I only had a small part to play in the latest edition.  The excitement of actually seeing my writing in print and there for everybody to read should be fully realised next week when the features I have been working on are scheduled to appear.

But so far this week I think I have definitely got a taste for, and insight into, the work that journalists do and the pressures they are under. It’s also been great for me to see PR from the other side; the way the work that we do dovetails with journalists and where we can add more insight and opportunity for both journalists and our clients in particular situations.

Tomorrow is my last day at PR Week, but I still have a few media feathers to ruffle because I am cooking up a story which should feature next week.  I have missed agency life though and am looking forward to getting back to Bite – Lambo get that barbie fired up and Tom ramp up those tunes!
